    Black cicada / tacua speciosa downstairs

    The entomologists / insect fan in me came to the fore when I saw this beauty downstairs on Monday 16th April 2012 around 6.20am:

    Yes, the Emperor Cicada thought that my house’s worthy of a visit :-)

    The fluorescent green colour was what struck me most.

    Apparently it’s rather rare and has 3 bright colours along its body: yellow-green collar, red thorax & turqouise-blue abdomen.

    Definitely one of the most beautiful insects I’ve ever seen.

    The typical cicada/tongil/tangil I see almost every day – but this one I don’t see too often, I think only twice in the past 18 months.
