List of online radios featuring Sabah indigenous languages
April 22nd, 2009There are at now least 2 “real” radio stations featuring Sabah indigenous languages accessible online:
and
Suria FM. For SuriaFM, it’s Monday to Friday 6am – 10am local time.
Apart from those, there are now at least 2 Sabah-based internet-only radio stations being run by enthusiasts.
PONet.fm (Pitas Online FM). According to its website, it’s running 24 hours, with its DJs going online every night from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm. On Friday and Saturday nights they could extend their hours to 12.30 am. At the moment there are 4 DJs, all volunteers. Its creator, rumputt has even been asked by prominent Sabah entertainment company Sky Laser Enterprise Sdn. Bhd. (more popularly known as Skyline) to set up its online radio.
and
Sabahan.FM. This is a 24-hour channel, with walk-in (DJ@Walk) volunteer DJs during the day, apparently the first Malaysian online rado utilising this concept. The DJs could be anywhere: AbgLang, the creator wrote that he did the first live DJ@Walk on the 7th of April 2009 while at KLIA, utilising the free internet connection at KLIA’s Golden Lounge.
Kudos to all involved.
P.S. Of course there’s that itchy copyright issue.

Sabahan.FM. I was just chatting with one of my online buddy DJ there last night. I would try to let them play my ‘This is Kaamatan’ the new version soon. Haven’t really checked them out. Bagus kah dia punya streaming quality?
Yeah I thought about that too, how do they go about playing other artist’s songs? Copyright is definitely going to be an issue.
I tried playing the radio at the office in the afternoon for a few hours – to me the streaming quality is not bad at all.
I wonder when RTM is going to ‘fix’ the problem with KeningauFM. Video streaming is just plain BULL with TMnut Screamyx
Thanks for the info
Nice one!

Sabahan.FM using just 24kbps bitrate for good quality streaming.
Belive me, Sabahan.FM more better then other competitive online radio in Sabah.
Others claim 24×7, but radio always down. Sabahan.FM never down except for schedule maintenace. Downtime very minimum, just schedule maintenance.
yaaa…..ada kebenarannya :)
