Declarations of love / marriage proposals on billboards in Kota Kinabalu

    December 30th, 2008

David Tan’s wedding proposal to Kelly Tan on Valentine’s Day 2008 using a billboard at the LDP in Kelana Jaya was probably the first such proposal ever done in the country.

The second could very well be right here in Kota Kinabalu; the one in September 2008 at the Damai-Luyang intersection, apparently of a Mr Jason proposing to a Ms Viviana Yew. She apparently accepted, as later “Yes, I do” was added to the bottom right corner and the smiling couple posed for photographs in front of it with the beaming lady sporting a diamond ring:

Then in December 2008 another, even bigger one appeared at the Tanjung Aru intersection near the Royal Sabah Turf Club, of a Mr Roger Fong announcing his love to a Ms Jane Ma, for all the world (or at least Kota Kinabalu folks) to see:

Someone commented that Roger is a pilot and Jane is a stewardess. Perhaps someone can help verify this?

The reactions to the first case at shutterasia.com could be applied to all these 3 cases.

… I think you can buy memory from one of the guys …

Yes, that’s one of the possibilities, it all could be a publicity stunt for a company
