Bargain buys at Pikom PC Fair 2008 (8 - 10th August), Kota Kinabalu

    August 8th, 2008

The 2nd round of PIKOM PC Fair 2008 is running at quite a few cities all over the country.

For the weekend of 8th-10th August (11am - 9pm) it’s running at Penang International Sports Arena (Penang), Mahkota Parade Melaka (Melaka), Dewan Tun Hj Mustapha, Lahad Datu (Sabah) and Sabah Trade Centre, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah).

For the fair at Sabah Trade Centre, I was informed by a colleague that the best bargain he’s seen so far is a 19″ Samsung LCD screen, with an optical mouse thrown in, for RM640.

If you’ve seen good bargains in these fairs, pls share with us. Thanks.

Someone does not like the chairman of the company

    August 6th, 2008

I pass by this parking lot about once a week to check on the generator set. The last time I looked up it was oK, but a few days ago obviously something happened and this was the result:

    And no… I am not the culprit…

Sabahan Bloggers Gathering 2008: my lucky streak continues

    August 4th, 2008

The 2nd edition of SBG was held on the evening of the 2nd August 2008 at Imperial International Hotel’s Roof Top Restaurant (10th floor).

It was at least 3 times bigger than the inaugural event last year.

If this trend continues, next year we will need a hall!

And this year I felt much better due to the fact the gathering was held on land. Yes, I get seasick easily, so I’ve declined quite a few invitations to go deep sea fishing.

We arrived (there were 5 in our “entourage” - we’re number 40 to 45 in Jacq’s list) about an hour late, and things were already in full swing.

Again, I didn’t bring any image/video capturing device save for my cameraphone. Still, I didn’t use it because with so many cameras flying about I didn’t think I’d be able capture anything new anyway.

Then a mere few minutes later, my number, 0093 was called out. Amazing, I think this is happening too frequently! I haven’t kept a record, but I think I’ve won something at more than half the number functions with lucky draws I’ve ever attended.

And the good thing is, anybody that happens to be near me stands a good chance of winning too. I was talking to Gaman and a new friend (sorry my memory is very bad - Don isn’t it?) when that new friend’s number was called out: he got a camera and 2 other things.

Then later 0092 was called out - someone in my “entourage” won but for the life of me, I couldn’t understand when he opted NOT to claim.

    OK enough about that.

The event had an added luster by the presence of Louis Pang, one of the world’s best wedding photographers and Gaman, one of Malaysia’s (if not Asia and the world) top experts in making money via the internet. I had the honour of having a short chat with both of them.

Terry Peter did a live set, and for next year I think Papier Mache should get a slot.

For the record, apart from the group I came with, I met/said hi to/acknowledged Gallivanter, PapaJoneh, Jacq, Wei Chuen, Lorna, eshark, Josie, Katama, Gaman, Louis.

Congratulations to the organising team on a well organised event.

P.S. If you notice, I did a slight change to the SBG 2008 “logo” on the sidebar, you’re welcome to use it if you wish.

Someone forgot something very important after shopping at 1Borneo

    August 3rd, 2008

Spotted 20th July 2008, 7:26pm at the top of the escalator, ground floor, 1Borneo.

Must’ve been very busy with both the things to carry down to the car and the boisterious kid(s).

If you are bringing many kids, do NOT go to this place at 1Borneo, Kota Kinabalu

    August 1st, 2008

It’s guaranteed to make you broke double quick.

Yes, Boo Boo Land will sound rather like Boo Hoo Land after a very short time. We wandered into it, and it was like a black hole, pulling us deeper and deeper…

Every game, well at least the ones I’ve tried, costs at least RM1.

I think all the rides are truly rip-offs, costing RM5 per person for like 5 minutes. So 3 kids = RM15 gone in a few minutes. Like this game here which is basically a miniature rollercoaster.

Or this water splashing game here:
