Bargain buys at Pikom PC Fair 2008 (8 – 10th August), Kota Kinabalu
August 8th, 2008The 2nd round of PIKOM PC Fair 2008 is running at quite a few cities all over the country.
For the weekend of 8th-10th August (11am – 9pm) it’s running at Penang International Sports Arena (Penang), Mahkota Parade Melaka (Melaka), Dewan Tun Hj Mustapha, Lahad Datu (Sabah) and Sabah Trade Centre, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah).
For the fair at Sabah Trade Centre, I was informed by a colleague that the best bargain he’s seen so far is a 19″ Samsung LCD screen, with an optical mouse thrown in, for RM640.

Right after the badminton tournament, we went there to look see what are new things on offer! Very crowded since it was the last day. Wah…quite lot of printers, notebooks, etc on the cheap! But most were old stock or old models!
The Acer netbook was tempting at RM1299 (advertised price RM1399). Thinking of getting one for wifey but I was not very sure of the 8gb flash module (in place of a harddisk) so gotta hold out first. Read good review for MSI Wind and Eeee PC (?) netbooks but could not find them there!
In the end, got myself a scanner (for similar KL price) that I will use to digitize all my old negatives and positives!
I declare victory: managed to stave off temptation…
haiyah, missed it again.
but by reading through the blogs about this event, seems like there is just a little bargain. i was anxious for this fair as a guy from an IT shop in centerpoint said they sell the laptop (which a friend of mine bought earlier for RM4500) for RM1800++ only! plus a free printer + flash disk.
that 19″ LCD screen is tempting too. maybe next time lah.
