If you are bringing many kids, do NOT go to this place at 1Borneo, Kota Kinabalu

    August 1st, 2008

It’s guaranteed to make you broke double quick.

Yes, Boo Boo Land will sound rather like Boo Hoo Land after a very short time. We wandered into it, and it was like a black hole, pulling us deeper and deeper…

Every game, well at least the ones I’ve tried, costs at least RM1.

I think all the rides are truly rip-offs, costing RM5 per person for like 5 minutes. So 3 kids = RM15 gone in a few minutes. Like this game here which is basically a miniature rollercoaster.

Or this water splashing game here:

The best (i.e. the most cost-effective) game I think is the Japanese drumming game located next to the air castles. It lasts for quite a long time for RM1.

The air castles are OK, you pay RM5 per person, there are about 5 castles, and the kids can stay there for as long as they like.

The water bicycles are OK too. RM1 for as long as they like. But they tend to get too wet after awhile, so you’d have to pull them out when it’s a bit out of control already.

It was tough taking at least one screaming kid off the toys, and I had to come back to the very same place a week later after being relentlessly pestered.

Having said all that, all the games are prepaid card-operated, meaning you get a card (costs RM3) at the counter, and top it up as needed. Recommended RM30 to start off. Every ride is manually controlled by people. They’d slot your card in, check your balance, and debit as necessary. That can only mean one thing: during lean periods around 9pm ish on Sunday evenings, they might be kind enough to let 2 persons in for the price of one…

The rides are lame but the air castle are worth it since there’s no time limit.
