Wedding weekend, followed by yet another major flood in Penampang

    July 28th, 2008

Last weekend was a wedding weekend – my sister in law got married. We had a reception at the house on Saturday afternoon after church, and 24 hours later a major flood hit again (I think for the 5th time this year).

The following photo was taken at 8.42am on the 26th, before the reception in the afternoon. Take note of the swing (I hope you can see it).

There was another reception at KDCA Hall on the afternoon of the 27th, which I emceed. Then in the later afternoon we all went to the groom’s house to have dinner, then arrived home around 8pm. The water level was already rising then. I think it reached its peak at 10pm.

The following photo was taken at 8.25am on the 28th. The swing is half submerged.

Pity you me…I was expecting tough times for you all seeing the incessant rain after the enjoyable ‘aramai tii’!

Sure enough, you blogged about it LOL.

Hope everything is okay over there!

We are “too experienced” in facing this kind of situation already, so yes, we’re ok. On average there are 3 major floods here in a year, except that strange year of 1998 (El Nino year) where there was not even one flood. So, having lived in Penampang for the last 11 years, I should have dealt with more than 30 major floods!!!

Banyak kali suda banjir kan this year. Hmmm…a wedding to remember for umbok. Ada my mum mentioned about the wedding and banjir. Luckily ndak masuk rumah durang. Masuk di toilet bowl la…Hmmm. We had so much rain here in El Paso too, kena tempias Hurricane Dolly. Some parts are flooded.

Bah, its always good to read updates of current happenings back at home on your blog.

No wonder, even the hanging bridge in Malangang gone after 20 years. Even the great flood of 1999 didnt wash it away then.
