How they dupe you with the packaging
July 14th, 2008Last month, as I usually do while making my way out of Kota Kinabalu International Airport after a business trip (no, I don’t deal in auto parts franchises), I’d stop by one of those duty-free shops in search of chocolates.
That time I decided to buy this:

But when I opened it, the chocolates inside only took the following area:

The taste was ok lah, not spectacular.
Worse, I bought them in a bundle of 4, and cost me RM31+, meaning almost RM8 per box. Supposedly duty-free, locally made, 137g per box of chocs for almost RM8, you think this was reasonably priced?

LOL!
The content is as it is as being shown on the package!
But don’t ever buy from any airport’s DFSs. They are all ripping the daylight out of any LAST MINUTE customers!
Travelers who buy last minutes from DFS in airports don’t have much choice but to get them even at inflated prices because it does not make economic sense to go back to the city to get similar stuff for obvious reasons!
One sore point: Eversince they banned bringing into cabin liquid of more than 100ml, basic necessity like a 500ml bottled water is banned! So a 500ml bottled water sets you back by at least RM3 whilst it can be purchased for about RM0.80 - RM1.00 outside!
Regarding the liquid ban, I thought that only applies to international flights? KK-KL flights also affected kah?
Looks like Cigar
if you like chocolates, you should consider simply chocolate, made locally here in kota kinabalu.
the quality in my opinion is really on par with the expensive imports we get.
It has become a habit of mine to purchase chocolates as I make my way out of KKIA, as a little welcome home gift. Other than that, I hardly ever buy chocolates - even when I see them in front of my eyes at local shops.
why did you choose chocolate but not beer? haha..
haha, you also know the reason mah …
and whatever happened to Malaysia;s Chocolate King - Mr Philip Upali - creator of KANDOS - once a hugely popular chocolate in Malaysia - and mr Upali becomes an instant millionaire - but he mysteriously vanished into the sea while onboard a private jet together with the pilot and a friend… till today the neither their bodies nor the wreckage of the plane is ever found!!!!!
so whenever u eat chocolate… think of the late mr Philip Upali…
Very interesting!
Indeed, RIP Philip Upali Wijewardene’ (1938–1983)
