    Certified Ethical Hacker

    April 10th, 2008

After taking the CEH exam in February, I finally received the certificate on the 26th of March, more than a month later.

Having said that, I’d like to reiterate that at a certain stage of one’s life, one can never reach as high level a hacker as one would like anymore, due to other commitments, especially time.

The other, followup course is coming up in June.

Still, doing well in any exam, especially a relatively expensive one like this is an achievement to be savoured. The last time I took an exam which cost a few hundred ringgit was on 24th June 2006 when I sat for the IELTS exam. I scored an average of 8.6 out of a possible 9 then, but surprisingly did worst on a topic I thought I’d get a 9: writing.

It’s the prerequisite for a higher level course (ECSA/LPT), which is the real one I am aiming for, and going to undergo in June. Other courses teaching the same thing as that course are of course also available elsewhere, but in my opinion is the most well-defined, well-organised course of its kind.

but ahhh, infact ahhhh. does that means that you can be a computer hacker and break all the secret codes into NASA, FBI, CIA, KGB, MOSAAD top secret computer files… and does that means that you can actually launch a US nuclear missile straight into Pyong yang or Kremlin, thus triggering world war 3..???????????????????

even better, hack into bank negara or bank of england top secret files and transfer at least USD 30,000,000,000 into someone account??????

It’s just a piece of paper saying you’ve surpassed a certain level of expertise; and taking your actual level of expertise to the level required to do what you wrote is another journey in itself. As I already stated, at a certain stage of one’s life, one can never reach as high level a hacker as one would like anymore, due to other commitments…

I attended the course and did the exam in Petaling Jaya - I don’t think anybody offering the course in KK, but I am sure you can take the exam in KK (any Prometric site).

The course + exam cost RM4,500.

For exam only I think a few hundred ringgit.

You are right! But perhaps that was added quite recently? Because I remembered EC-Council (PJ)’s Sales Manager saying in mid-February that they haven’t appointed any “agent” to conduct such courses in KK, and was offering such to our dept.
