My Chinese New Year 2008 in pictures

Here are some pictures I took of the first day of CNY:

We traditionally spend the first day of CNY at my mother-in-law’s sister’s house. This year they had 10 lions:

As usual the lions’ biggest fans are the kids:

On the way to the house, one of the lion’s steps got caught in a tree branch, hence they had to cut short the routine:

One thing that never fails to happen is that once the performance ends, the kids get their precious few minutes to…

    …and…

Then, on the second day of CNY, we were supposed to have a family trip to Kundasang, but then the following happened to the car with two of my nieces inside just as we were on our way:

They were quite in bad shape, but fortunately they’ve started the process towards recovery.

Oh no, that’s terrible! Hopefully they’re much better now. 10 lions! My daughters would go crazy to see that :-)

Story slowly emerging as the 2 recover from their shock, treatment, surgery etc etc: The driver only had L license (but she told me earlier that morning she got her full license 3 months ago) driving way too fast and tried to avoid a Kancil. It was quite unreal to me, because only a few minutes before that, I was the one helping her to drive the car (reverse) out from the house.

Sakinah (working at Standard Chartered KL) arrived in KK on CNY eve, borrowed a friend’s car, which was the one that crashed. I think she was supposed to fly back to KL on the afternoon of Saturday the 9th. The accident happened on the 8th, the day before her flight back. Needless to say, she missed that flight.
