Datuk Peter Mojuntin (1939-1976): the Golden Son of the Kadazan
October 30th, 2007In the middle of Donggonggon township, Penampang, there is a statue of the late Datuk Peter Joinod Mojuntin. It’s about 15 feet tall.
On the 4 corners of the platform, there are descriptions of his titles and achievements, including the following:
That plane crash also killed the Chief Minister of Sabah at that time, Tun Fuad Stephens and several other state cabinet minister.
On another corner, his biodata summary is displayed. It’s a bit small: I hope you can read it.
Here I relist some of the more pertinent ones: to emphasise the magnitude of his achievements, so that we all may be challenged, inspired and strive to reach or even exceed the high standards set:
- Secretary General of a political party (UNKO) at the age of 23.
- Member of Parliament at the age of 24. In fact he became an MP first, then a state assemblyman later.
- First Sabahan delegate to attend the UN General Assembly (in 1963). Addressed the UN Assembly at the age of 24.
- Chairman of Penampang District Council at the age of 30.
- Assistant State Minister at the age of 33.
- When he died, he was a few months shy of his 37th birthday.
His son, Donald Monjuntin is now the MP for Penampang.
So, if you want your statue to be erected, you know the requirements already…

This reminds me of a his biography at my father’s house which I wanted to read but forgot to bring back to Brunei, do you know this book?
He seemed like a very interesting personality and I can’t wait to get this book back and read about the Kadazan’s Golden Son.

It was reported in the local press, say daily express 11 nov 2009 that the book “golden son of the Kadazan” is banned by the malaysia home ministry.
Reason, it contains the “allegation” that late CM tun Mustapha tried to destroy christianity in Sabah by arresting and deporting foreign missionary priest.

My Relative Rev Fr John Quinn ” Toboh Mission Founder” Now The Holy Cross Toboh” was one of those Priest Mustapha expelled from Sabah against the whiches of the people he did not expell any others but Christians’ Chatholics” I have done a lot of research on the missionaries in Sabah and even after they suffered in the interment camps in ww2 the missionaries stayed to help the people rebuild and most of the government had or have been educated by the same missionaries they turned against
As the very person being implied in the said book though I did not read the book I possessed the properties as propagated and is written in the words of God in the Bible and must also be the in the Holy Quaran. With knowledge as being the chosen One where in the beginning of my age (1961) such was relatively an unexposed and in the media if ever existed were in figurative manners. The Malaysian government vis a vis the International communities interests had turned the Chosen one into a guinea pig, exploiting me like nobody business and to the extent had passed bills and dishonor Laws, the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and of the most unacceptable practice since the beginning of civiliasation where my whole family were manipulated that ended me in mental asylum, Prisons, Police Arrests, Police brutality/commercial crimes, cyber crimes, biological adversities, espionage, provocations, Courts’ wrongful and corrupted Judgement, economic sanctions, slavery, enticements, etc., and these have caused many undesirable elements in my immediate environment where people close to me were being enticed monetarily and the overall impact is multi-dimensional and multiform that are directly related to natural disasters and accidents such as the famous 911. Nevertheless, as the Chosen one my government did not serve its purpose in protecting me but instead had treated me with ignorance to undermine and belittle me while denying the truth of the blessings endowed by my being. This have been going on for 17 years and I hereby in my utmost reverence uphold my absolute acknowledgement to the LATE TUN MUSTHAPHA.
