My favourite version of Poco Poco

    October 28th, 2007

Everybody knows that ubiquitous Jopie Latul megahit Poco Poco. Heck, even those in the highest levels of government are openly dancing along to it!

It has even infiltrated Malaysian cultural festivals; this has displeased some people.

There have been a few version, not least that crazy Inul Daratista version, complete with midget dancing partner.

But personally I like the following mellow version, in the unplugged tradition:

OMG, this is the first time I heard of the Poco-Poco music! Everyone’s been talking about it, yet I do not know how it sounds like, nor do I know how to dance Poco-Poco! HHAHAHAA!

Thanks for the video. At least tak ketinggalan zaman also la me.

Tell me, you’re only kidding! The original version, written by Arie Sapulette, sung by Jopie Latul is at http://youtube.com/watch?v=uf0Y5JKQHQk

It’s one of those songs where you only need to listen to it once: and you’re hooked! Another song that fit into this category is Dragostea Din Tei.

I learned line dancing moves using “Achy Breaky Heart” when I went back to Sabah and found the dance have similar steps! (I think Mat Saleh copy them lah)

No wonder sometimes, at weddings, the song changes from Poco Poco to Achy Breaky Heart and people continue dancing the same moves :-)
