Kinatu Anggidau wrote, recorded and released what should be the most unique Kadazandusun song ever last year. If usual pop songs deal with love, this guy tackled a topic never done by any Kadazandusun musician before: life insurance.
The song features Sabah’s own guitar god: James Sami.
If you like it, please support local musicians: buy the original.

The first verse roughly translates as follows:
I am an insurance agent
Moving around to earn a living
Meeting people to explain why they need insurance
Relatives & friends, please understand the need for insurance
The cast of Disney’s most successful franchise ever, High School Musical did a 40-city tour of the USA, Canada and Latin America November 2006 to May 2007. The following is a selection of videos from the concert in Buenos Aires, one of the last (if not the very last) leg of the tour. Zac Efron was not there (he was busy with another project), but Drew Seeley, the guy who actually sang his parts in the film did.
Stroke of genius (music-themed movie surely will spawn concerts like this: guaranteed money spinner) – if they did the concert in Malaysia surely kids and the young at heart will be scrambling for tickets.
Some trivia:
- The official DVD of the concert entitled High School Musical, The Concert – Extreme Access Pass features only the North American leg of the tour
- The soundtrack for High School Musical has sold almost 6 million copies worldwide.
- The next tour will be end of 2008. Will they come to Kuala Lumpur?
- “Breaking Free” and “When There Was Me & You” was written by Jamie Houston.
- The soundtrack is the first TV soundtrack to be No.1 in the Billboard since Miami Vice.
- The highest charting single on Billboard is Breaking Free (peaked at no.4).
We had a church event at Melinsung Summer Bay Resort end of August till early September.
For accomodation, most of us stayed at the 3-room apartments. From the outside, they look like the following:
Near the apartments, and probably the most unique feature about this place, is a stationary ship called the Summer Bay Cruise. Reminds one of Noah’s ark. The “ship” contains a restaurant, karaoke lounge, upper deck and main hall big enough for 150 persons.
Front view:
Side view:
The beach is a short walk away and is open to the general public, but have to pay a certain sum. On weekends, if I remember correctly, the charge is RM5 per person. A view of the beach as seen from the 1st floor of the “ship”:
Predictably, even the inside of the restaurant is ship-themed:
It cost us around RM3,500 for 2 night’s stay (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon) for about 24 persons. That includes all meals and the use of a small hall (it’s actually the karaoke lounge).
The swimming pool is located a stone’s throw away from the “ship.” The kids’ pool is next to it. It looks quite inviting, unfortunately it was raining heavily and the lifeguard did not allow swimming in the rain:
In fact, there are quite a few swimming pools located around the accomodation areas.
DialAFlight is a United Kingdom-based travel company offering flight, hotel, even car hire reservation and travel ideas to destinations worldwide.
Their website is a good place to start exploring your options for holidays overseas.
Currently focusing on weekend breaks, they have quite a lot of cities to choose from, with something for everyone: sightseeing, shopping, kids-friendly, nightlife, culture, beach. The cities include world renowned Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Venice, Prague, Vienna and Nice. Personally, I’ve been to all of them save Barcelona and I must say the experiences were unforgettable.
Different from a guided tour, DialAFlight would organise the flights and accomodation – you are free to choose where to eat, and what to see and do. Hence, you can also call these short breaks as city breaks!
They also offer many other holiday offers including beach and spa holidays.
To book, DialAFlight requires you to call and discuss your plans with one of their UK-based travel consultants. Verbal discussion via phone will ensure that you’d be absolutely sure that you get exactly the holiday that you had in mind.
My boy Ethan celebrated his 4th birthday on 30th August.
Can you see anything strange about the picture below?
I never expected that he’d get so many presents (more than 30 in all), all from different persons. Most of it came from his schoolmates. The school has about 60 kids in total. It was so many that the present opening task had to be done in 2 sessions.
No wonder he looks so happy…
The most treasured present, which he chose himself is the following creature from Bandai:
On 11th September Josh Lim of Advertlets announced an opportunity to earn an extra RM20 (SGD10 if you are in Singapore) for its members.
This opportunity is only open to:
- existing and active (code up for at least a month already) Advertlets members, limited to 100 bloggers from Malaysia and Singapore (read: hurry!!)
- those who have not received any Advertlets cheque yet.
So what do you need to do?
Write a post about Advertlets. Josh gave no specific format to buzz on, and you can write in either English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Singlish (English as it is commonly spoken in Singapore) or Romanized Hokkien.
From far away in the mountains, he took time off from the longest hide and seek game ever played to wish us Happy Kaamatan. In the National Language with authentic regional lilt, no less. With a unique Sabahan twist, and perfectly appropriate body language at the end. Better late than never.
