Pictures of Melinsung Summer Bay Resort, Kota Kinabalu – Papar highway
September 14th, 2007We had a church event at Melinsung Summer Bay Resort end of August till early September.
For accomodation, most of us stayed at the 3-room apartments. From the outside, they look like the following:

Near the apartments, and probably the most unique feature about this place, is a stationary ship called the Summer Bay Cruise. Reminds one of Noah’s ark. The “ship” contains a restaurant, karaoke lounge, upper deck and main hall big enough for 150 persons.

Side view:

The beach is a short walk away and is open to the general public, but have to pay a certain sum. On weekends, if I remember correctly, the charge is RM5 per person. A view of the beach as seen from the 1st floor of the “ship”:
Predictably, even the inside of the restaurant is ship-themed:

It cost us around RM3,500 for 2 night’s stay (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon) for about 24 persons. That includes all meals and the use of a small hall (it’s actually the karaoke lounge).
The swimming pool is located a stone’s throw away from the “ship.” The kids’ pool is next to it. It looks quite inviting, unfortunately it was raining heavily and the lifeguard did not allow swimming in the rain:

In fact, there are quite a few swimming pools located around the accomodation areas.

Oh didn’t know they have such a cool restaurant in there. Is it open to public? At least now we have a place to singgah on our back to KK
Yes it is. There’s a gate to enter the resort but you dont have to sign in or anything like that. Just remember that for visitors, the way in is the same as the way out. For members, the way out is on the left of the guardhouse.
