Karam Singh Walia (TV3) at my house at the kampung

    July 12th, 2007

Yes, he really did on 25th May 2007. He was on a break between programs. It was a Friday and I was bogged down with work until 6pm. So, unfortunately I was not able to be there. He was there for around 4 hours starting 4 something pm.

Basically he’s a celebrity. Google his name and you will know. Someone commented that “if Michael Chong is seen as a saviour of sorts to battered wives and loan shark victims, then journalist Karam Singh Walia is nature’s knight (environmental issues).” Add to that his own unique & very muhibbah way of presenting. Another prominent local blogger said that he thought Karam “single-handedly revived peribahasa usage on television.”

Unfortunately no, I’ve never even met him, he’s a colleague (+ of course buddy) of my brother.

Referring to my earlier comment, I meant my other brother, not the brother (Ezbon) to whom the letter was directed.

And Hey Mandak: the CDs you gave are marvellous, although I only had a quick listen thru one or two.

I had probably a delusion in 1996 that I was partly responsible for persuading Michael Learns To Rock to perform live in KK. Why? Because I was an active participant of their website then and communicated via a few emails with their manager, Mikkel Lentz (if I remember correctly). In the email I urged them to consider performing in Sabah a few months before they were due to perform, and I was so shocked when they really did come! If not mistaken, they only date in Malaysia!

My point is: I wanted to bring Jascha Richter and gang to Firehouse and have an impromptu acoustic jam session to total classics like 25 Minutes, The Actor and Paint My Love over a pail of singgarung or ten!!!
