Any person can eat pork, however if you’re a real Christian, you’re not supposed to eat pork. 1st, we need to establish the definition of a Christian. A Christian is a person who is Christ-like. 2nd, if you didn’t realize, Jesus was Jewish.
Jewish people do not eat pork because of Leviticus 11 or Deuteronomy 14. It is clearly written that there are clean/unclean animals. This is the written account of so that you’d understand what clean/unclean animals are. However, if you flip back to Genesis, you’ll notice that Noah took clean/unclean animals aboard the Ark. The diet was written before the book of Leviticus. Otherwise, how would Noah differentiate the difference in the animals. These are the written accounts of the Old Testament.
Referring to the New Testament, most claims are structured so that people think that it’s ok to eat pork. Most people have read the exerpt that you’re defiled by what comes out of your mouth rather than what is put in. Now most people refer this to food related items. So, my comment to you, since we’re able to eat pork, which is only one item on the forbidden list, why are people not having a rat, dog, cat, etc Bar-B-Que on the weekends.
Furthermore, if you’re brave, go buy a fresh piece of pork and pour Coca-Cola on it. Watch the reaction.
Within the last century, scientists are just now realizing how pork and other foods introduce hazards to our body.
Jesus also said, he’s not here to abolish the laws, but to fulfil them. And the laws that he did do away with were most of the Levitical laws, but remember that the diet was in existance before then.
All of this info was supplied to you by a Catholic. Since I’ve opened the word and started my own research, I’ve realized that there are many things that I’ve taken by tradition. We should open the word for ourselves and understand our “Owner’s Manual” to life.
Remember, there were only 8 people who were onboard Noah’s Ark. Scientist believe that the Earth was populated by an estimated 1.5 billion people. What were all those people doing that God didn’t find favor in them or give them salvation????
Thanks for your long commentary. Regarding pouring coca-cola on pork, I’ve tried that, and nothing happened?!
“Are you so dull?” he (Jesus) asked, “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him unclean? For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods “clean.”) He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’ For from within, out of men’s hearts come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean’.”
